Diplomatic Briefing: AU Common Position on Reparations
INVITATION TO A DIPLOMATIC BRIEFING AT THE MARGINS OF THE AFRICAN UNION SUMMIT!
This diplomatic briefing will offer a platform for policymakers, diplomats, and stakeholders to discuss and exchange policy ideas on the implementation of the African Union’s Common Position on Reparations. One of the Briefing’s key objectives will be to capacitate and sensitize African diplomats and partners to engage with the AU Common Position on Reparations for African and People of African Descent, in addition, the AU adopted the Accra Declaration on Reparations and Racial Healing. The meeting will also draw upon the provisions of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) which provide guidelines on reparations and redistributive justice.
The briefing is by the Institute for Peace and Security Studies, the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation, Amani Africa Media and Research Services and the African Union Network for Think-Tanks on Peace.
