Key Details

Objectives:

The primary objective of the Friends of IJR is to provide a platform for individuals to engage with the work of the IJR on a voluntary basis. While the initiative does not impose specific expectations, it aims to create an environment where members can contribute their skills, knowledge, and efforts towards justice, reconciliation, and peacebuilding efforts as they see fit.

Eligibility Criteria:

Membership is open to those who have previously worked for the IJR and those who would like to contribute to promoting peacebuilding on the continent and/or the mission of the IJR. A committee will review the application for membership.

Duration:

Members can engage for any length of time they desire, ranging from short-term commitments to ongoing involvement.

Responsibilities:

As the membership is entirely voluntary, there are no predetermined responsibilities or obligations placed on the members. It is however expected that the friends of IJR will be champions for its work and will contribute their skills and knowledge as they see fit, in alignment with the values and objectives of the IJR.

Benefits:

While membership does not provide financial remuneration, the benefits of participation are primarily intrinsic and self-driven. Members have the opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals, gain exposure to relevant projects and initiatives, and contribute to the work of the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation on their own terms. Friends of the IJR will be on the IJR mailing list and continuously be informed about its activities.

Application Process:

Interested individuals can express their desire to be a Friend of IJR by submitting an application form (obtained from the website) to the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation.

Amendment of Terms:

The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation reserves the right to amend the terms of reference for membership as it deems necessary. Any amendments will be communicated to existing and potential members in a transparent manner.
