The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation participated in consultations convened by the World Bank Group to inform the development of its new Country Partnership Framework with South Africa for Fiscal Years 2027–2032.

Held on 26 May at the University of South Africa Graduate School of Business Leadership in Midrand, the consultation brought together representatives from academia, think tanks, and civil society organisations to provide input on South Africa’s development priorities and the World Bank Group’s future support to the country.

IJR was represented by Mwanja Ng’anjo, Head of Communications, and Dr Elijah Masubelele, Deputy Executive Director, who joined discussions on the opportunities and challenges facing South Africa as it approaches the final years of the National Development Plan (NDP) Vision 2030.

The consultation formed part of the World Bank Group’s stakeholder engagement process to shape a selective and impactful partnership programme aligned with South Africa’s development objectives. Participants shared perspectives on key policy priorities, inclusive development, governance, social cohesion, and strategies for achieving sustainable and equitable growth.

The insights gathered during the consultation will contribute to the formulation of the World Bank Group’s Country Partnership Framework, which will guide its engagement and support to South Africa between 2027 and 2032.
