WOMEN PEACE LAB FOR SOUTHERN AFRICA WOMEN
The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) is pleased to announce the opening of the applications process for the 2026 Women Peace Lab. This Lab will bring together women peacebuilders from across Southern Africa to strengthen leadership, collaboration, and policy engagement on the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda,
Building on lessons, networks, and momentum from last year’s Lab, the 2026 edition will continue to support women leaders to deepen their peacebuilding skills, strengthen regional collaboration, and contribute to inclusive peace and security processes across the SADC region.
Are you a woman leader wanting to advance your skills? Do you want to play a meaningful role in advancing the Women, Peace and Security agenda? IJR invites dynamic women leaders and changemakers from across the SADC engaged in peacebuilding to apply for the 2026 Women Peace Lab.
What to Expect
- Hands-on learning: Strengthen your understanding of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda and its application in real-world contexts.
- Leadership development: Build practical leadership skills to support peace initiatives in your community and beyond.
- Innovation and problem-solving: Work collaboratively to develop creative responses to current peace and security challenges.
- Networking: Connect with women leaders from across the region and engage with experienced facilitators and practitioners.
Programme Details
- Format: An intensive, interactive workshop 3 day workshop combining group discussions, individual reflection, practical exercises, and presentations.
Why Participate?
- Be part of a growing regional network of women peacebuilders working to strengthen peace and security in Africa. Your participation will contribute to shaping innovative ideas and practical solutions towards greater peace and security.
Who Can Apply?
- Women between the ages of 36 and 50 years
- Individuals with some experience about peace and security
- Applicants with a clear interest in advancing Women, Peace and Security objectives
- Representatives from civil society, academia, government
- Applicants must reside in a SADC country
- Must have a valid passport and be able to travel
- Must be able to communicate in English
