IJR COVID-19 PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

By Published On: 17th March 2020
In light of the severe impact of the COVID-19 virus and, in an effort to assist in reducing its spread, IJR staff will during the coming month, starting on the 18th of March, work remotely from their homes. A skeleton staff will during this period operate from the office in order to deal with urgent matters. During this period, individual staff members can be contacted on their IJR e-mail available on our staff page [https://www.ijr.org.za/staff/]. For any emergencies, please make use of the following numbers 079 261 7649 or 0833263010.
We have taken the decision to postpone the appointments of the Research and Policy intern; the Wellness Employee Consultant; and the Administrator. All public events have been cancelled and we will inform all stakeholders of upcoming events should there be any changes.
This is a time, unlike anything we have previously experienced. It makes us conscious of our vulnerability, and it exposes the systems, practices and behaviours that made us this vulnerable. While it may, therefore, be a time of anxiety and risk, may it also be a time of new insight, humble learning and innovation that serves all humanity. The IJR stands in solidarity with all our brothers and sisters around the world who are affected by this scourge. We also extend our gratitude to all in different sectors that are tirelessly fighting its spread. In this regard, The IJR stands ready to offer its support where and if required. Together we will prevail and emerge stronger from this episode.
