Mikhail is the project leader for the South African Reconciliation Barometer (SARB) project, a nationally representative biennial public opinion survey on issues of social cohesion and governance. Established in 2003, the SARB is the longest-running public opinion survey of its kind and has served as a model for similar public opinion surveys. Mikhail holds a Masters degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex and an Honours degree in Politics from the University of Cape Town. He has previously worked as a research assistant, freelance editor and radio producer.
