DESCRIPTION

South African songs and poetry are crucial parts of our cultural, political and religious heritage. The project Songs worth Singing, Words worth Saying, seeks to use these songs and poetry as opportunities to breach the racial divide and build communities across the old apartheid barriers. This compilation, consisting of a DVD, audio CD and eSongbook showcases an intergenerational musical and poetry conversation amongst experienced local musicians, poets and the youth sharing renditions of moppies, ghoemaliedjies, Cape Jazz and political songs sung during the struggle for democracy.
