South Africans want a United Nation – IJR Survey
The gap between rich and poor is the biggest impediment standing in the way of South African reconciliation. And, while historic racial divides still exist, 66% of ordinary South Africans want to cross boundaries and form a united nation.
These are among the findings of the 11th South African Reconciliation Barometer (SARB) conducted by the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) and released this week.

The Justice and Reconciliation in Africa Programme recently published its annual regional consultation report titled The International Criminal Court (ICC) and Community-Level Reconciliation: In-country Perspectives. Discussions at the regional consultation, on which the report is based, focused on four themes, namely: peace and justice; cooperation by states with the ICC; the principle of complementarity; and the rights of victims.
