IJR and ISS Host an Expert Roundtable on Strategies to Implement the African Union Transitional Justice Policy
The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR), based in Cape Town, South Africa and the Institute for Security Studies (ISS), based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia is jointly hosting an IJR-ISS Expert Roundtable on Strategies to Implement the African Union Transitional Justice Policy, as a pathway towards preventing violent conflict and consolidating #peace and #security.
The two day meeting is taking place in Nairobi, Kenya and commenced on Wednesday 19th February 2020.
The gathering convened a roundtable of 15-20 key decision-makers, CSO practitioners, analysts, academics, inter-governmental and diplomatic actors, working on the implementation of transitional justice, peace and security processes across the African continent to mitigate and prevent the persistence of violent conflict.
One of the Roundtable’s key objectives is to identify the most effective strategies to advance the implementation of African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) in order to prevent the recurrence of violence and to sustain peace and security initiatives.
