On the 29th of October 2019, IJR’s Jan Hofmeyr will be participating in a panel discussion on “FAULT LINES IN SOUTH AFRICAN SOCIETY AND THEIR IMPACT ON PHILANTHROPY” at the Social Cohesion Philanthropy Symposium in Stellenbosch.
On 05 November 2019, The Social Justice Agency, in partnership with Institute for Justice and Reconciliation are hosting Dr Robin DiAngelo from the USA for a social justice engagement within the corporate, academic and social sphere. Dr Robin DiAngelo work as a diversity trainer, facilitator, lecturer amongst other things. Her book titled “White Fragility” is a New York Times bestseller
On 19 November 2019, the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation will host its annual Reconciliation Celebration ceremony at the A4 Foundation in Cape Town at 18:00 – 20:00. This year, the theme for the Reconciliation celebration is “The Art of Reconciliation”, and the Institute will carry out the ceremony differently as to previous years.
On 5- 6 December 2019, The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation’s (IJR) Social Change Model (SCM) project will host a two-day conference in Cape Town on the nexus between indigenous languages and the affirmation of our human dignity. Additionally, the conference will seek to explore how the promotion, protection and active inclusion of indigenous languages can contribute toward social cohesion and the national reconciliation project.
On 12 December 2019, is the launch of the South African Reconciliation Barometer Survey (SARB). SARB is a public opinion survey conducted by the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) in South Africa since 2003. It is the world’s longest-running public opinion survey on national reconciliation and provides a nationally-representative measure of South Africans’ attitudes towards reconciliation.
