Race and Racism in the South African Basic Education Sector Dialogue

The Institute for Justice and Reconciliation hosted a dialogue on Race and Racism in the South African Basic Education Sector dialogue this past Monday.

The event aimed to (1) zoom in on race relations at schools (including the surrounding parent communities); (2) unpack the complex nature of race and racism in the sector; (3) engage with key drivers of change in this sector and attempts to address systemic and racialized inequality and (4) assess the relationship between the Education department and schooling communities and the transformation mandate in the education sector at large.
